Jasen Sappenfield

Jasen Sappenfield

Co-Founder & Engineer

Mechanical Engineer (BSME 1995, Kansas State University)
Professional Engineer (Mechanical Engineer, Kansas Registration)

As co-founder of Finite Engineering, Jasen Sappenfield believes that one of the reasons that Finite stands out is its well-developed process. While their clients may only encounter new product development every year or two, they are experienced at taking clients through the process, step by step.

Jasen has had the benefit of watching every project Finite Engineering has worked on go from concept to finished product, and one of his favorites was the Freestyle, a theme park ride that required copying an existing model, but then upgrading it with modern design.

Jasen says that you see some great character traits when you look at a team of good engineers: patience, determination, curiosity and innovation are just a few. And as for the Finite team in particular, Jasen says, “I’m so proud to have them as members of Finite Engineering and watching what they do every day. I’m grateful.”

Adam Jeffries

Project Engineer

Adam Jeffries graduated from Kansas University with a degree in mechanical engineering, and while he began his career in corporate settings, he eventually realized he wanted something different.

Working with Finite Engineering means getting to be more intimately involved in projects and with clients, as well as getting to see how his efforts solve problems for clients. Adam says the most enjoyable part of the job is the challenge of trying to figure out a solution that someone else hasn’t already tried. As for the best skill he brings to the company, Adam says that it’s his tendency to have his head in the clouds. He is always looking at the big picture and asking “why.”

Bill Baker, P.E.

Project Engineer

Bill Baker has been with Finite Engineering for two years, but his earliest encounters with engineering concepts happened on the family farm when he was growing up. He went on to pursue a drafting track in high school until he thought to ask the question, “Who tells the drafter what to draft?” Bill decided to become an engineer and following graduation from what is now Missouri S&T in Rolla, he grew his expertise in areas like conveyor lines, animations and troubleshooting. When asked what he appreciates about working at Finite Engineering, he says that among many other things he enjoys the variety of projects and getting to work closely with clients.

Brian Mills, P.E.

Project Engineer, Senior Analyst

As a student growing up near Springfield, Brian Mills loved math and mechanical projects, so he was a natural fit for a co-op program through MSU that then allowed him to finish college in Rolla at what was then University of Missouri—Rolla. Throughout his education he learned that every engineer’s job is essentially making sure things work.

After decades of working in manufacturing, Brian brings a unique expertise to the Finite Engineering team. He specializes in pressure vessel process tanks and leads the team’s Finite Element Analysis portion of the business. He says that working at Finite is exciting because every employee is really focused on making projects successful for the client.

Nate Heim

Project Engineer

Nate Heim loved Legos and taking things apart as a kid, which naturally led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Kansas University, specializing in aerospace engineering. While he wasn’t sure which kind of engineering he wanted to do, he did know that he wanted to work for a smaller company, which led him to Finite Engineering.

Nate’s areas of expertise include working with CAD modeling and coming up with designs, and he also excels in conceptual development. He says that Finite Engineering is special because whereas a client might look at a situation from a particular perspective, Finite brings in a team that brings a variety of perspectives.

Adam Sheridan

As a mechanical engineer with an MBA in Finance, Adam Sheridan has a diverse background that includes technical sales, business strategy, data analytics and computer programming. He doesn’t just love building things; he also values the opportunities he has to build relationships. Describing himself as an engineer who does sales and not the other way around, Adam is always thinking about solutions to problems and finding new ways to do things.
